Thank you for visiting my page! Let me tell you a bit about myself......
I am licensed with the city of Edmonton and registered with the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA)* which provides me with a registration number that is required for clients to claim their treatments through their extended health benefits. I completed my training from Grant MacEwan University's 2200 hour program which has given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients, from the elderly to infants, athletes, and expectant mothers. I have also had further training in providing deep tissue massage and treating those involved in motor vehicle accidents. As well, my training offers an extensive understanding of a number of conditions to which people seek massage therapy. Since graduating in 2004, I have worked with clients who seek massage for relaxation, relief of whiplash and motor vehicle accident injury, repetitive strain injuries, clients with Alzheimer's and cancer, clients suffering from Fibromyalgia, and athletes of all kinds from amateur and fitness enthusiasts to professional high performance athletes.
Although I can deliver an incredible relaxation massage, I am well versed and specialized in administrating therapeutic massage with special focus to eliminating and managing pain in common injuries related to postural weakness and dysfunction. The support of this is achieved in educating my clients in healthy living through remedial exercise, stretching, and self-care. I specialize in, but not limited to, incorporating relaxation, hydrotherapy, myofascial release, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, active isolated stretching, cupping, and joint mobilization into my massage sessions. Having been around sports and recreation my entire life, it was only natural that my interest also lies in providing treatment to sports injuries and sports rehabilitation. All massage sessions are customized to the individual based on client's needs and goals.
On a personal note, my passions (other than Massage Therapy) include cooking, traveling and experiencing different cultures, and exploring life with my wonderful husband and two amazing children.
* The MTAA is the only provincial Massage Association in Alberta that requires all members to demonstrate their ability to practice safely by completing an Entry-to-Practice Examination. This process ensures that each and every active member of the MTAA is minimally competent to practice safely and ethically in providing Massage Therapy care to the Alberta public. Once active membership has been granted with the MTAA, each Massage Therapist is obligated to maintain the MTAA Standards of Practice, uphold the MTAA Code of Ethics and is required to further develop themselves and the profession of Massage Therapy through participating in ongoing and continual Professional Development.
